HOW TO SET UP A DIAL UP CONNECTION IN WINDOWS 2000




1. Click Start. Go up to settings and click Network and Dial-up Connections



2. Double Click Make New Connection





3. Click Next at the Connection Wizard





4. Click Dial-up to the Internet and click Next




5. Click I Want to set up my internet connection manually, ….and click Next





6. Click I connect through a phone line and modem and click Next



7. Enter the dial up phone number and click on the Advanced button.




8. Connection type is PPP (Point to Point Protocol). Logon procedure None. Click on the addresses tab.



9. IP Address – Internet Service Provider automatically provides one.

DNS Server address. Enter 129.121.254.1 as the Primary DNS server and 129.121.254.2 as the Alternate DNS server. Click OK



10.Click Next



11. Enter your username and password. These entries are case sensitive. UNM and PNM users need the whole email address as the username. Click Next



12. Type a name for your connection and click Next



13. Click no to set up an internet mail account now and click Next.



14. Check the box if you want to connect to the internet now and click Finish



15. Click Start. Go up to settings and click Network and Dial-up Connections.


16. Right click on OSOGRANDE and left click on Create Shortcut. Click Yes to the message about placing a shortcut on the desktop.




17. To connect, double click on the Shortcut to OSOGRANDE on your desktop.

(optional: To show the phone number click the Properties button then the Options tab). Check the box next to Prompt for Phone Number and click OK.




18. Click Dial.
