Windows 95/98 Dialup Setup

 

 

How to Create a Dial-Up connection in Windows 95/98

1. Double-click the My Computer icon.

2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.

3. Double-click the Make new connection icon.

4. In the Type a name for the computer you are dialing field, type OSO GRANDE. Click the down arrow on the Select a device drop-down list and choose the correct modem installed on your computer. Click the Next button.

5. In the area code field, type your area code. In the telephone number field, type your local access number. Click the down arrow on the Country code drop-down list and choose the correct country that you're in. Click the Next button.

6. Click the Finish button.

7. Click the OSO GRANDE icon with your right mouse button, then choose Properties.

8. Click on the Server Types tab. Click the down arrow on the Type of Dial-Up Server drop-down list and choose PPP: Internet, Windows NT Server, Windows 95/98. Uncheck all the boxes except for enable software compression and TCP/IP. Click the TCP/IP Settings button.

9. Select Server assigned IP address.

10. Select specify name server addresses.

11. In the Primary DNS field, type 129.121.254.1

12. In the Secondary DNS field, type 129.121.254.2

Note: Primary WINS and Secondary WINS should be all zeros and you should have a check next to use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network.

13. Click the OK button until you are back at the Dial-Up Networking window.

14. Click the OSO GRANDE icon with your right mouse button, then choose Create Shortcut.

15. Click the Yes button.
